The husband (Gere) assumes that his wife (Lane) is happy. After all, they have a perky son and a glitzy suburban mansion. But his existence turns topsy-turvy when he discovers that his wife is having a passionate affair with a book dealer (Olivier Martinez).Lyne succeeds in creating an erotic ambience without being exploitative or offensive. If we have any reservations, it is about the contrived denouement. Richard Gere glides comfortably into the role of the betrayed husband. As his wife, Diane Lane is excellent. This stylish reprise is eminently worth sampling. </div> </div>
